Moffat Traffic Appearance Types
A state traffic result may label an appearance IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, TELEPHONE, or NO APPEARANCE REQUIRED. That label covers one docketed setting only. It grants no standing right to the same mode at a later hearing. Read the location and courtroom fields alongside the appearance type. Then check both against your most recent court notice.
A division value can point you to the correct criminal livestream when public viewing is allowed. But watching is not participating. To take part, you need the case-specific link or instructions the court issues. If your citation, docket result, and virtual instructions disagree, call the clerk before the start time.
Moffat Traffic Search Troubleshooting
A missing state ticket usually has a simple cause. First, confirm you entered the number in the correct mode. The payment site separates county-and-case, ticket-number, and name-and-birth-date searches. In the docket search, Moffat County and the T case class can narrow a setting. At least one filter beyond date is required, though.
Next, check venue. Craig and Dinosaur citations are not guaranteed to appear in state tools. Timing matters too, because officer intake can take four to six weeks. Then call the named court. Keep the original ticket throughout. Its summons language and response date stay important while the online data catches up.
Silence does not mean the charge was dropped. It can mean the wrong court or early intake. It can also mean a mistyped number, or a case that is not remotely displayed.
Moffat Traffic Ticket Document Trail
One traffic matter produces several records. The citation names the court and your response. A docket setting shows when the court expects action. After filing, the Register of Action builds the chronology, and the disposition or sentence order states the outcome. Colorado's request form expressly offers Ticket, Disposition/Sentence Order, and Register of Action/ROA.
Request the smallest product that answers your need. A date question may need only the free docket and a confirming call. An outcome question calls for the disposition order. A full chronology requires the ROA, and certification is a separate choice when you need an authenticated court copy.
Moffat Traffic Payment Plans
The 14th Judicial District states that fines and fees are due on sentencing day. A person unable to pay in full can request a plan. Options include online, a faxed paper application, or in person. The annual processing fee is $25. The local ticket FAQ identifies a $10 late fee.
Remember, these are state-court rules, not automatic terms for Craig or Dinosaur. For a municipal case, ask that court about its current choices. Mailed state payments need your name and case number. Use a check or money order, and never send cash. Online payments made after 4:00 p.m. post the next business day.
Traffic Court Records in Moffat County
Moffat County Court hears state traffic infractions and traffic offenses. The courthouse is Moffat Combined Court, 1198 W. Victory Way in Craig. Craig Municipal Court handles qualifying city-code and municipal traffic matters. Dinosaur Municipal Court covers town ordinance and Model Traffic Code matters. The issuing agency alone does not settle jurisdiction. Read the caption and court designation printed on the citation.
A state T-class case can appear in Colorado Judicial Branch systems. A municipal citation may never show up there. An empty state search is not a dismissal. Contact the court named on the paper. Ask whether the citation has been filed.
Three Moffat Traffic Record Custodians
The fastest lookup follows the citation rather than geography. Each court keeps its own Moffat County traffic court records.
| Citation names | First contact | Record route |
|---|---|---|
| Moffat County Court | 970-824-8254, extension 7 | State docket, payment system, or Moffat clerk |
| Craig Municipal Court | 970-826-2018 | Court administrator or City Hall counter |
| Dinosaur Municipal Court | 970-374-2286 | Town Hall by phone, mail, or in person |
Neither Craig nor Dinosaur posts a public municipal docket portal. A commercial ticket site is no substitute for confirming directly with the court.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
For a state citation, the official Docket Search can locate a public hearing. The court's phone and counter still matter. Officers may file late, and some matters never appear remotely.
- Read the ticket front and back for the court, deadline, number, and mandatory-appearance language.
- For County Court, search Moffat with the T case class or full case number.
- Use the Colorado Judicial Online Payment only if the official system accepts the case.
- For Craig or Dinosaur, call the municipal court or take the citation to its counter.
- For the court file, request the ticket, disposition or sentence order, and ROA from the proper clerk.
The 14th District says a citation can take four to six weeks to reach the court. Staff cannot assess a plea proposal before intake. So an early failed lookup does not mean no response is due.
Moffat Traffic Payment Search Fields
Think of the payment system as a lookup and payment tool. It is not the Moffat County traffic court record itself, and it offers three search modes.
| Mode | Fields |
|---|---|
| County and case | County, case number, and first four letters of last name |
| Ticket number | Ticket number and first four letters of last name |
| Name and birth date | First name, last name, and date of birth |
If the fields do not find a case, verify the venue and intake status by phone. The official payment interface lets the court accept fines and fees directly online.

The three search modes help distinguish a data-entry mismatch from the wrong court.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
The citation or summons is the first notice, but the setting the court maintains controls. Compare the ticket with the statewide result. Then call when either is unclear.
The basic state traffic case pattern is 2026 T [sequence]. Do not add assumed leading zeros.
| Date and time | The scheduled start shown for the current hearing |
|---|---|
| Case number | Year, T case class, and sequence for a state traffic matter |
| Hearing type | Advisement, review, sentencing, or another stated event |
| Appearance type | In person, virtual, telephone, or no appearance required for that exact setting |
| Location and division | The courthouse and courtroom assignment |
Watching a livestream does not count as appearing in Moffat County court. The county's own warning says it can lead to a failure to appear and an arrest warrant.
When Moffat Traffic Intake Lags
A traffic ticket can take a while to reach the court system. The local ticket FAQ estimates four to six weeks for the officer to submit it, so the response instruction may still be live on paper. Keep your copy, note each attempt to reach the court, and call extension 7.
If a date looks wrong: only the judge can reschedule. File written JDF 76 with the case and ticket number in person or by email. Telephone and fax do not process that motion.
A later court order can override a date printed on a citation. Emailing something is not the same as the court accepting the filing, so confirm acceptance.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
Paying a ticket and contesting it are separate paths. A charge marked "summons" cannot simply be paid off; it requires an appearance. Before mailing any money on an eligible payable citation, understand the plea and what payment means for your Moffat County court docket.
| Pay | Contest |
|---|---|
| Confirm that payment is permitted, use official instructions, and keep the receipt. | Follow the response deadline and appear or notify the named court as directed. |
| Online payments after 4:00 p.m. post the next business day. | Payment is not a request for trial or a motion to change the setting. |
| Mailed checks or money orders need the name and case number; do not mail cash. | Ask the court about case-specific procedures before enrolling with any course provider. |
Failure to appear: the court may issue a warrant or take other action depending on the charge. Never substitute a livestream view for required participation.
The 14th District payment page explains local payment and plan routes.

Those instructions cover state court matters only, not automatically a Craig or Dinosaur municipal citation.
Moffat Traffic Paths: Craig and Dinosaur
Craig Municipal Court meets at City Hall on the second and fourth Monday at 8:30 a.m., in person only. Court Administrator Gayle Zimmerman is listed at 970-826-2018. A clean two-year ticket history may support a deferred sentence, though eligibility is never automatic.
Dinosaur Municipal Court convenes at Town Hall on the first Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Its code lets you pay an eligible penalty assessment in person or by mail within 20 days. Skip that deadline and the notice turns into a summons and complaint, with the appearance date set under the code. Call 970-374-2286 to confirm the current session and how to respond.
For context on a municipal citation, the official Craig Police page is the place to look.

The police department that wrote the ticket does not hold the filed case; the municipal court does.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two offices keep two different files. The Moffat County court record tracks one citation through hearings, plea, sentence, and court financial entries. The driver record is separate. The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles keeps it and receives reportable convictions under Colorado Revised Statutes Title 42.
| Record | Custodian | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic case file | Moffat County Court, Craig Municipal Court, or Dinosaur Municipal Court | Documents the citation and court proceedings |
| Motor-vehicle record | Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles | Maintains the state licensing record |
Order a ticket or disposition from the court that heard the case. The court file is not the DMV file. Likewise, the DMV record never replaces the court's ROA.
Fees and Copies
The Moffat clerk's published state-court record charges apply when requesting traffic case papers.
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Plain copy | $0.25 per page |
| Certification | $20 per document |
| Name search | $5 |
| Annual payment-plan processing | $25 |
| Late fee stated in local ticket FAQ | $10 |
Moffat County publishes no countywide fine schedule, deferred fee, course fee, or failure-to-appear surcharge. Ask the specific court for a current, case-specific total instead.
The official court collections contact page names the local payment contact.

That contact handles state-court balances only; amounts owed to a city or town stay with the municipal court.
