Search the Craig Court Docket

Start with the paperwork. The citation, summons, or notice names the court, and that single line tells you which counter holds the Craig court docket you need. Craig Municipal Court keeps city ordinance cases plus qualifying municipal traffic matters. Everything else lands at Moffat Combined Court: state traffic, misdemeanors, felonies, civil cases, domestic matters, probate, and small claims. The city court offers no online docket portal, so a municipal case starts with the city administrator or the City Hall counter in Craig. For state cases, the Colorado Judicial Branch search tools and the county clerk do the work.

Craig Setting Confirmation

A regular municipal session date proves nothing about your case. Ask the administrator directly. Give the citation number. Request the exact date, time, place, and any response the court requires of you. Write down who confirmed it and when, in case it conflicts with your original notice.

Craig Court Travel Check

Craig has two court buildings, and mixing them up wastes a trip. City Hall at 300 W. 4th Street houses the municipal venue. The state venue is Moffat Combined Court at 1198 W. Victory Way, Suite 200/201. Read your notice before leaving home. The Craig court docket search then points to the right counter.

Hours differ too. Combined Court posts weekday staff help from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The municipal court holds sessions the second and fourth Monday at 8:30 a.m. Those are court dates, not counter hours, so call the administrator for access details. For state records, dial extension 7. Neither office makes promises about parking or transit, so plan your own route.

Security rules apply at the state courthouse. Phones go off in courtrooms. Weapons are barred from the court floor. The right to view records does not include permission to record proceedings.

Craig Docket Terms in Plain Language

In Colorado, a docket is usually the public list of hearings. The Register of Action, or ROA, is different. It is the running chronology kept with the case file. One setting on the calendar is a single event. It is not the whole record and not the final outcome. Municipal wording in Craig may not match the state display. Ask the administrator which city record fits your question.

State results list an appearance type of in person, virtual, telephone, or no appearance required. That last phrase applies only to the one setting shown. The courtroom or division field tells you where the event happens. A name appearing twice, or several hearings under one number, still means one case.

These distinctions keep a search on track. Find the right court and setting first. Pull the chronology if order matters. Then ask by name for an order, citation, or disposition. Do that when you need the actual document.

Craig Municipal Record Checklist

A precise request gets better results. For Craig court docket material, provide the citation number, your full name as printed, the issue date, the alleged offense, and the scheduled appearance. Say exactly what you want: a setting confirmation, a copy of the citation, a disposition, an order, or the chronology.

State cases need the full Colorado number. The year, the case-class letters, and the sequence separate County Court traffic and misdemeanor files from District Court matters. The free docket lists settings, not the entire record. The Moffat clerk can supply the ROA and filed papers. CoCourts sells ROA access, but its printout is not a certified record and carries no document images.

Searching and filing are separate acts. Colorado Courts E-Filing exists for filing, not for public browsing, and a docket event is created only when the clerk accepts and uploads the work. Sending an email proves nothing. The city sets no posted copy fee schedule, so ask the administrator; state charges never control the municipal price.

Craig State-Case Search Fields

The Colorado docket search lets you filter by location, date, case number, party, business, and attorney. Use it for a Moffat County Court citation. You must add at least one filter besides the date. The full case number works best. A common name can pull up several settings at once.

Each result gives the hearing date, start time, estimated length, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom or division. It withholds the deeper material: the full filing history, the charge narrative, the final outcome, the financial ledger, and document images. Treat the result as identification. Then ask the clerk for the ROA or a named filing.

Nothing coming back? Widen the date range and check the spelling and case class. The ticket may be municipal after all. A Craig municipal case belongs with the city administrator, not forced through the state portal.

How to Search the Craig Court Docket

Your paperwork is the routing tool. A Craig Municipal Court caption keeps the case with the city. A Colorado or Moffat County Court label, especially with a T-style number, sends you to the state system.

  1. Copy the exact citation or case number, defendant name, court, and response date.
  2. For a city citation, call Court Administrator Gayle Zimmerman at 970-826-2018 or visit City Hall.
  3. Ask for the next setting, case status, permitted response method, and available public record.
  4. For a state case, search the Colorado docket with Moffat and a required non-date filter.
  5. Confirm any conflict directly with the correct clerk before the appearance.

A dead-end state search does not erase a Craig municipal citation. The two courts keep entirely separate files.

Craig Has Two Court Layers

Craig is the county seat and hosts its own municipal court. That makes venue the single most important fact in any Craig court docket search.

The Craig Municipal Court

Craig Municipal Court meets inside City Hall at 300 W. 4th Street, Craig, Colorado 81625. To reach the court, call Court Administrator Gayle Zimmerman at 970-826-2018. You can also write to gzimmer@ci.craig.co.us. City Attorney Heather Cannon sits at 970-826-2012.

Sessions run on the second and fourth Monday at 8:30 a.m. In person only. There is no Zoom option. The docket covers Craig code violations and qualifying municipal traffic matters. It does not cover every police contact or every case inside city limits.

The City of Craig site gives the broader local government picture.

City Hall is the practical municipal court destination when no online docket is available.

Craig’s No-Portal Fallback

Craig offers no searchable municipal docket or citation portal. Work the chain instead. Start with the citation, then the administrator, the City Hall counter, and a city public-record request if needed. Skip the county payment interface unless the citation itself names Moffat County Court.

Bring or provide: the full name on the citation, its number, date issued, alleged violation, and scheduled appearance. Ask whether the case has been filed before drawing conclusions from a missing result.

The official Craig Municipal Court page publishes the local process and contact.

Craig Court Dates and Settings

Where does a Craig court date come from? The citation, a court notice, or the administrator. Sessions fall on a regular pattern. That does not mean a case can slide to any second or fourth Monday that suits you.

Craig Deferred-Sentence Detail

A deferred sentence may be available with a clean two-year ticket history, according to the municipal court. Note that word "may." Eligibility hinges on the case itself and on the court's review. Treat it as a possibility rather than a promise.

The administrator or City Attorney can explore pre-hearing resolution. Want to contest? Follow the appearance and response instructions instead of paying, since payment is not a trial request. Keep copies of everything you file and confirm the court received it.

Craig Traffic Tickets

The Craig Police can issue municipal citations, but the ticket's face controls everything. A municipal citation follows city instructions. A state T-class citation belongs to Moffat County Court and may surface in the state docket and payment systems.

The Craig Police Department page explains the issuing agency.

The police page is not the court docket. For filed case details, go to the court named on the ticket.

State ticket or municipal ticket? To sort the two more broadly, see the Moffat County traffic court records page. Remember that payment carries a disposition consequence, while contesting means meeting the stated response date.

Craig as County Seat

Craig also serves as the county seat. Moffat Combined Court sits at 1198 W. Victory Way, Suite 200/201. Both District Court and County Court work happens there. Clerk staff answer weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call 970-824-8254, extension 7, email moffatclerk@judicial.state.co.us, or stop by in person.

Where Craig Cases End Up

Serious offenses bypass municipal court entirely. The prosecuting authority files those in County or District Court. Appeals from Craig Municipal Court also move into the state system.

Docket flow: Craig Municipal Court › Moffat County Courts › Moffat County District Court

Craig is a qualified court of record. An appeal goes to Moffat District Court within 35 days for review of the municipal record, not a fresh trial. The state lists a $70 filing fee plus the municipal appeal bond. Filing the appeal is not a new city portal search.

Craig Appeal Records

An appeal stands or falls on the municipal record. So preservation matters. Ask the city court what record exists and follow the governing appeal rules and deadline. Once the case is in state court, filings belong with the Moffat clerk.

For reference, the official District of Colorado CM/ECF page is maintained separately.

Craig court docket compared with federal filing

One caution about that link. CM/ECF is a federal system and holds no Craig municipal appeals. Those route to Moffat District Court.

Public Access to Craig Court Records

Start with the right office. Craig Municipal Court keeps the city's own records, so send record requests there. Anything from County or District Court goes through the Moffat Combined Court clerk instead. Access is not always open, though. Sealed files, protected personal data, juvenile confidentiality, statutes, court rules, and case-specific orders can all limit what a member of the public may see in a Moffat County court docket or case file.

Key rule: Colorado Chief Justice Directive 05-01 governs access to state court case records. Colorado Open Records Act procedures may apply to city administrative records, but they do not turn a sealed case file into a public record.

Name the product you want. A docket or case summary, the citation, an order, a disposition, or a certified copy. The city publishes no copy fee schedule, so ask the administrator for a current quote.
